Usage Tips
1. The principle of this sand cleaner is gravity. The water outlet must be at least 19 inches lower than the water inlet when you use this gravel cleaner.
2. Due to manual measurement and length conversion, a 0.1-0.5 inch error is allowed; please in kind prevails.
3. Due to the different strengths of each person, the size, and the water depth of the fish tank, there is no clear Drain Flow Rate. Please refer to the actual operation.
4. When washing sand: If the filter from your fish tank is powerful, you can put the outlet hose into the fish tank, and the sand is circulated in the tank without draining the water. If not, it is recommended that you vacuum turbid water directly from the tank and change to clean water.
5. When the gravel is sucked in too much and is about to reach or reach the top of the tube (near the filter port), lift the hard tube slightly, and the gravel will fall back into the fish tank.
Instructions for Sand Washing
1. After installing the hand water pump, put it in the fish tank. Do not touch the sand and gravel.
2. Press and absorb the water until the water circulates naturally.
3. Insert the hard tube into the sand to absorb the sand (not too much).
4. Move left and right to clean sand and gravel.
5. Lift and down to replace sand and gravel.

Hygger produces two versions of this gravel cleaner. HG956-Hand comes with a hand pump and some accessories while HG956-01 has all of the same pieces but also includes a white net, a scraper, and the handle for just an additional $5. I particularly like the white net because it is easier to see captured small fish in a white net as opposed to black or blue colored nets. The photo on the HG956 box currently on the Hygger website does not include a picture of the net, so I attached at photo in this review. Now, even though I have the Electric Gravel Cleaner (HG955-15W), which is used for water changes in the 37-gallon and 10-gallon tanks, I use the hand pump for cleaning the gravel in both tanks. The long extension tubes make it easier to get in and around the plants and decorations. Don’t get me wrong, HG956 can be used for water changes, it is just the Electric Gravel Cleaner (HG955-15W) has a strong pump which makes water changes is much faster. Buy both. Together, they make cleaning the aquariums so much easier and faster.

Bought through Amazon. Planted Aquarium cleaning made easy. The duckbill suction inlet helps in precise cleaning. Sad that Hygger only provided a small length of outlet pipe.
Real simple and easy to use, the set up is a piece of cake. Found it to be so much easier than using a siphon vacuum.
