  • 5. Ease of Use: Intuitive LCD screen and button controls, Flow rate and frequency adjustments via “+/-” buttons and long-press functions
  • 6. Size Advice: For aquariums up to 60 gallons, this device provides 12W power. For up to 135 gallons, we offer 18W. Up to 265 gallons, the wave maker boasts 25W, complete with a rotatable head for multidirectional waves. Each brings a touch of the ocean to your aquarium.

Natural Currents, Effortless Control

Powered by 360° cross-flow technology, this wave maker breaks free from traditional unidirectional flows, mimicking natural ocean currents to gently circulate water into every corner of your aquarium—eliminating dead spots and encouraging fish to swim in vibrant, dynamic schools. Paired with an LED smart controller, it offers real-time parameter displays and fingertip adjustments: combine 30-100 adjustable flow/frequency settings effortlessly via an intuitive interface. Designed for safety and serenity, its “24V low-voltage system” and “near-silent operation” (virtually noise-free) ensure peace of mind for both you and your aquatic life.

5 Custom Wave Modes: Precision-Tuned for Aquatic Ecosystems

– Classic Wave Pulse Mode: Intermittent surges to stimulate fish activity.

– Sine Wave: Gentle tidal rhythms ideal for coral health.

– Constant Wave: Steady flow for consistent water circulation.

5 modes to make wave

Smart Multi-Function Modes: Adapts to Every Situation

– Key Locking Function: Long press the “+” and “–” keys until the lock icon appears in the upper right corner of the screen to disable accidental adjustments. To unlock, repeat the action until the icon disappears.

– Feeding Mode: Press and hold “OFF/FEED” to pause waves for 10 minutes, preventing food dispersal.

– Night Mode: Auto-sensing ambient light triggers a “low-flow constant wave” in darkness to protect aquatic circadian rhythms, reverting to preset settings at dawn.

– Wireless Sync: Link master/slave pumps without cables—ideal for large tanks (up to 265 gallons)—to achieve full-coverage synchronized waves.

Flexible Placement: One Pump, Triple Benefits

– Top Mount: Showcase wave patterns for a “living screensaver” effect.

– Mid-Level Mount: Generate dense bubble streams for oceanic ambiance.

– Bottom Mount: Scour debris from the substrate, acting as a hidden cleaner.

Featuring a “360° rotatable nozzle” and “ultra-strong magnetic base” (compatible with ½-inch glass), this versatile pump combines aesthetics, aeration, and maintenance in one sleek design.

Usage Tips

1. Regular Cleaning and Drying:

➤ Keep the controller clean regularly to ensure it operates at its best.

➤ If water accidentally gets on the controller, quickly wipe it off with a dry cloth to prevent any harm.

➤ To clear out debris, simply twist the pump basket counterclockwise to open it, and clockwise to lock it back in place.

2. Proper Care of Pump Components:

➤ Use a gentle cloth to wipe down the blades and eliminate any built-up dirt inside the pump.

➤ Remember, this product is designed for indoor use only. Never submerge it in water to prevent any unnecessary damage or loss.

These simple steps will help keep your product in great shape and ensure it continues to work efficiently for a long time.

Q: How do you set NIGHT mode on the wave pump?

A: To initiate NIGHT mode for day and night wave patterns, long-press the “Wi-Le/NIGHT” button; the pump automatically adjusts to a constant wave mode at a low flow rate in low-light conditions, and press the button again to exit NIGHT mode.

Q: How do you connect multiple wave pumps to one controller?

A: Wireless connection allows for synchronizing multiple wave pumps under the control of a single device.

  1. Master Control Activation: Press the “Wi-Le/NIGHT” button once to illuminate the “Master” icon, enabling master control and the controller’s full operational capabilities.
  2. Slave Control Activation: Press the “Wi-Le/NIGHT” button twice to illuminate the “Slave” icon. This enables slave control, in which the sub-controller can only adjust the flow rate, and other functions are locked.

Q: Can this pump be put at the bottom of the tank or just on top?

A: The pump can be put at the bottom of the tank to clean the residue from the bottom, its middle installation can exercise the fish and let corals shake to catch food, and installed on the top of the tank to imitate the waves of the sea or the ebb and flow of tides.

Q: What size wave maker do I need for my 88-gallon aquarium?

A: You can choose the 18W wave pump 1850GPH for an 88-gallon aquarium. For more details, please open the ‘Specifications’ label.

Q: Does the wave maker produce more CO2 than hang-on back filters? Or just more water surface agitation?
A: The wave pump produces cross-flow to replicate natural sea waves with a noiseless water circulation; it doesn’t produce more CO2 than HOB, but it helps to agitate water for more oxygen.

Q: What does inside the tank look like when the wave machine is running?
A: The wave pump uses sine wave technology for noiseless water circulation. When it is running, the tank looks like a peaceful environment with natural sea waves.

Q: Is this for salt only, or if not? Do I have to be aware of any species of fish this stresses out or anything? Is it a wave maker that has adjustable setting?
A: The wave pump is for both freshwater and marine aquariums. You can adjust the setting for your tank inhabitants according to their inhabit.

There are 5 custom wave modes to set:
1. Classic wave cross-flow wave creates omnidirectional streams, attracting fish groups to swim together in fascinating patterns.
2. The classic wave pulse mode stimulates fish activity with intermittent surges for large fish.
3. The sine wave is a gentle tidal rhythm for corals.
4. A constant wave has a steady flow and consistent water circulation.
5. Random wave mode mimics natural habitats with unpredictable currents for aggressive fish.

Q: Is there a recommendation for the height that you’d keep it below the water surface to generate the biggest waves?
A: According to your tank height, you can install it on the upper, middle, and bottom of the tank. To generate the biggest waves, you can install it close to the top in a spacious side.

I got this wavemaker due to having a large tank and needed more control of speed, and when I get it under 100 pounds, I've never looked at another wavemaker since. Most of the time I have it on the speed between lowest of 30 to 70 but don't use the 100 unless I am cleaning left over food or waste getting caught by obstacles in the tank.

  3. Finally found the perfect flow for my Waterbox 10 gallon. I purchased the smallest 12w and currently have it set at 35% power and it’s providing the perfect flow for my small tank. Previously had the hyger mini but had issues with direct flow in one spot and power seemed a bit much. This powerhead provides the best water movement for a small tank. Gave it 5 stars for the flow alone, I will say the setting functions and controller are a bit lacking but once you set it to your preferred mode there’s no real reason to mess with controller. This does have small hum to it, the hygger mini was dead silent. Definitely recommend for 10 to 25g tanks.

  4. I bought one of these to try out in my mixed reef tank in Sept 2023. Found I liked it so much I bought a second in Nov 2023 and got rid of the xxx circulation pumps in my tank (it is now May 2025). These are simple to set up, mount with strong magnets, and you can slave the two together if you want. Flow rate is adjustable as well as the frequency presets for wave making. I have one at each end of my tank aimed at the other, but each is set differently to promote random flows. The construction is very good and I found they even have ceramic shafts for the pump impellers to spin on. These were less than 50% of the cost of similar “name brand” ones sold in the US market (that are probably made in China as well). I am very happy with these and they are a good buy.

  5. We use this in our 100 gallon saltwater aquarium and it works great. I love the option to change the wave patterns. It’s easy to clean and set up. It has run nonstop for a year with no issues. The only negative is that you can hear a slight noise coming from it- like a whistling noise. But it is very faint and I can only hear it when nothing else is running in my house. I changed some of the settings and I don’t hear it anymore. So if you run into that problem just change the settings and I think that will take care of it.

  6. I purchased this wavemaker for my 90 gal tropheus tank . The wavemaker arrived on time and in good quality. Have had it set up and running now for 2 months . This unit works great ,easy set up with several control modes. With proper settings the unit keeps the tank substrate clear on debris . Also keeps the tropheus occupied and reduces aggressions . Lots of water flow, quiet operation, no suction cups to fail ,and hides well in the tank .

  7. GREAT PRODUCT!!! It is so important to have a way maker on your aquarium for so many reasons. This style of wavemaker provides multiple functions and benefits your aquarium in more ways than one!!! Game changer!

  8. i would recommend it Hygger makes good quality stuff in my experience.

  9. I purchased the 18w unit for a 54 gallon corner tank. It creates great flow and doesn’t leave any dead spots. Fish and coral extremely happy. I did have a problem with the units left side having reduced flow after a month of operation. Luna, with customer support was extremely helpful and resolved my problem right away. Great company and products. Great service. You don’t have to break the bank for your tank!

  10. I bought the Hygger 25w. It certainly has power but it’s a little too good for my little 62g. I purchased it purely for the magnetic hold on glass thickness. The hygger wave makers actually hold at 10mm so it didn’t need a larger one. The 18w holds in 10mm glass just fine!! I have a spare 25w now.
