This is a great heater to keep on hand as a backup in case something goes wrong with a heater already in use. The temperature and wattage are adjustable to a point that it could work for most any “average” size tank. It is easy to set with the control on the cord and display in the tank. The display is easily visible, even with my glasses off! I do always use a separate thermometer because my experience with Hygger is that they are great heaters but the built in thermometer isn’t always correct. I don’t like the auto shut off at 97 degrees. Whatever fish don’t die at 97 degrees are not what I have. The size is a little larger if planning to use in a smaller tank, but again, I feel like this is a great backup heater to keep on hand so the size wouldn’t be as important. It feels very high quality and quite heavy. I feel the cover will appropriately protect fish from touching the hot parts. Overall, I feel like this is a great value for the money. It can serve a wider range of tanks than most which offers options for use.
